We are privileged to present Akasha, Spanish World Music with special guest, internationally recognized, Guy Buttery touring from South Africa, for an unforgettable night of music in our Listening Garden.

Akasha fuses an extraordinary array of sounds and instruments from the East and West integrating Spanish, Indian and World Music influences. Don Soledad from Orlando on the Flamenco guitar, Dr. Kanada Anarahari playing the Sitar and our very own James Hershey on drums and percussion. Partnering with Guy Buttery from South Africa, these guys have been recording together and jamming to the beat of their own vibrations.

We could not be more excited to host these exceptionally talented musicians for an evening not to be forgotten.

At the age of 18, Guy Buttery’s debut album was nominated for ‘Best Newcomer’ and ‘Best Instrumental’ at the South African Music Awards (SAMA’s) making him the youngest nominee in the history of the event. Guy then went on to collect two SAMA’s in 2010 and again in 2014. He has also received numerous other major National accolades including the Ovation Award for his live performances at the National Arts Festival, and has been honored with more of these prestigious awards than any other artist.

Buttery has worked with an incredible myriad of artists including Dave Matthews, Jethro Tull, Vusi Mahlasela, multiple Grammy Award Winner Will Ackerman, Salif Keita, Preston Reed, Kaki King, The Violent Femmes, Jon Gomm and countless others. The media has cited him “as one of the finest exponents of the acoustic guitar in the World.” Expect high dynamics, deep grooves, delicate African inflections and mind-bending guitar playing of an entirely new order.

Orlando-based flamenco guitarist, Don Soledad is passionate about bringing the beauty and passion of Spanish music to life. With his exceptional guitar skills and dynamic stage presence, he knows how to create an unforgettable atmosphere that will leave a lasting impression.

Don has dedicated his career to bringing the fire and emotion of Spanish music to audiences around the world. He’s known for engaging and energizing his audiences with his dynamic acoustic guitar skills and soulful flamenco style. His performances celebrate the beauty of Spanish culture and music, offering a unique and authentic experience that will transport you to the sun-drenched streets of Andalusia.

Dr. Kanada Narahari is super interesting! Check this out…. Dr. Kanada is an Ayurveda doctor, writer and musician. He is a renowned sitar player, Indian vocalist, composer and teacher. He has performed around the globe with world-renowned artists and is well known for his classical, semi-classical and world music. He is the disciple of Pt Sanjeev Korti, a famous Sitarist from Bangalore.

Dr. Kanada is also an award-winning writer in Kannada, publishing two short-story collections, Modala MaLaeya Mannu and Gandakee Zon. Apart from fiction writing, Dr. Kanada Narahari is a columnist in various newspapers in Kannada on a variety of subjects including medicine, music and yoga!

Dr. Kanada’s passion shines through every aspect of his multi-layered career. He currently resides in Central Florida! We are lucky to have him in our backyard.

James Hershey, local to Tampa Bay, is a national touring drummer, percussionist and songwriter. James has worked with Trevor Bystrom, Das Funk Haus, Wildroot, Brandi Adams, Flintface and many others. James jams out to a wide variety of sounds with ease including contemporary, funk, soul, blues, bossa, africuban, rock, jazz, spanish and many vibrations of world music.

Get this! James worked for four years at B.B King Blues Club in Times Square where he gained invaluable knowledge by observing and interviewing music legends like B.B King, Johnny Winters, The Wailers, Aretha Franklin, Tower of Power and many more. How cool is that?!

James has big plans for his music career, we are looking forward to hearing more of the unique sounds he brings together, collaborating with interesting and talented artists from around the world.
